SEX.com Owner Gary Kremen Vindicated!

You have your choice of Sub-Headline:

1. "Again?"
2. "And this time it's for REAL!"
3. "Luv ya Gair -- :)"

Reporting from one of the most fascinating and journalistically fertile sectors of the Adult Entertainment Business, XBIZ.com today offered as news: "Gary Kremen Wins Permanent Injunction Against Stephen Cohen"

Those unfamiliar with Gary's extraordinary story, which may lay claim to "Saga" without any danger of hyperbole, have little reason to greet this news with cynicism. And those of us who do know the story, can't possibly tell it any more.

Though the headline suggests a definitive victory for Gary, we've seen these before, and -- as friends do -- we've offfered Gary our congrats each time.

But, here again, we must wonder whether anything has really been gained by Kremen. Moreover, "the gains of the day" -- if any -- will have to be reckoned against a meaningful running total in legal fees and "tsuriss"*.

More than a decade into his battle with Cohen, Kremen, The Man -- by all accounts a "great success" -- remains exactly what we need him to be: an inspiration to Nebbishes everywhere:

Thanks, Gar -- :)

In keeping with tradition (or is it fate?) this latest clipping for the SEX.com scrapbook, offered by XBIZ Editor Gretchen Gallen, asks us to balance statements like these:

"...marking a major turn in the road for a longstanding case involving the theft of the Sex.com domain and the recovery of an unpaid $65 million judgment awarded to Kremen in 2001..."

and

" 'We’re still working on the Mexico side of the case and getting the U.S. judgment recognized in Mexico,' Kremen said. 'It’s all just part of the continuum.' ”

Oy!
